In 2013 Let’s Circus was invited to take a leading role in the Remix Laboratory of South Africa’s National Arts Festival via the Swallows Foundation UK. The project objective was to work with 28 arts/theatre leaders from across South Africa to provide an intensive ‘Remix’ of skills and develop a vibrant parade troupe. The professional development programme combined training in acrobatics, stilt walking, circus theatre and spectacle, with participants undertaking two parade events in the city and a township of Grahamstown.
At the end of the successful week long residency, each participant was given resources to take back to their groups across the country including learning resources, juggling equipment and stilts.
Further information on the project can be seen via the Contemporary project blog or tumblr.
