The North East's first ever festival of youth circus!

Five Ring Circus Festival

For 10 days in July, the north east will be host to a residential visit from Australia's 'Spaghetti Circus'. This world-class company is at the top of the game and will be taking part in many public events across the period. Don't miss their show at the Journal Tyne Theatre in Newcastle as part of the Five Ring Circus Festival, and check out www.fiveringcircus.net for more festival details.

Every Tuesday in term time.

Be part of the South Tyneside Circus Club, Tuesdays from 4pm-5:30pm at the Customs House, cost £2. For children aged 8 upwards and adults.


Circ-Us-Cool - Whitley Bay

Every Tuesday in term time. Tyneside's premiere youth circus group.

From 7pm-8:45pm @ Whitley Bay High School Gym.

HANG Aerial Dance Workshops @ Dance City

The Durham Juggling Convention

October 17 and 18, Wolsingham School, County Durham. Workshops, master classes, convention show (including The Balloonatic) in a great relaxed setting in county Durham.

Circadium (as part of Xperience '09)

October 24 and 25, Tynemouth Longsands, Whitley Bay.

Two days of workshops, master classes, demonstrations and specialist lessons for youth circus participants in a circus Big Top. Featuring professional teachers from around the world, this will be the first event to specifically bring together all youth circus participants from Tyneside and across the North East. We hope that the event will contain Acrobatics and Acrobalance, Unicycling, Manipulation, High Wire, Fire Performance, Clowning, Performance Skills and more. International Buskers Festival featuring amazing artists from around the world.

The final event in the series, featuring international circus and street theatre from Joseph d'Amour Bouffon (France), Merlin the Hoopist (UK), The Balloonatic (Australia), Bo the Clown (UK) and others! Also catch the up-and-coming local circus stars graduating from our summer schools series across Tyneside. A great free day for the whole family.

July 2-4: Cultureshock Festival: Pickering, North Yorkshire

Featuring The Big International Circus Show inside the Big Top - Great Scott (Oz), Hui Ling Zhu (China), Iona Contortionist (Mongolia), The Black Eagles (Tanzania) and The Fluid Druid (US), plus performances from The Balloonatic (Australia), HANG (UK), te POOKa (Scotland) and a host of teacher/trainers from all over the world. One of our favourite events of the year!

July 4: The Cookson Parade, South Shields

Support our Customs House Circus Zone club members as they stilt, unicycle, hula-hoop and skate the town red. Then join in for Circus Workshops @ Brent Park following the parade.

July 25: Picnic in The Park - Churchill Playing Fields, Monkseaton - A 'Five Ringed Circus' celebration of the London 2012 Open weekend Event - 12-4pm

A big day of entertainment and activities hosted by North Tyneside Council and Let's Circus. Try your hand at Trapeze, Hooping, Chinese Pole, Acrobatics, Juggling and loads of other fun stuff to join in with and maybe Find your Talent too!

Featuring former Unicycle World Champion contender Daiki, and probably the funniest woman you'll ever meet, Cheeky. One of the highest skilled two-pieces we've met in quite some time, mind-boggling balance, amazing acrobatic skills and Manga-esque cartoon comedy that could only come from Japan - you will laugh til you hurt.
